My friend, aka my sissy, encouraged her subscribers on Skool to go an hour without being interrupted. As in, no phone, no scrolling, no interruptions, etc. So far, I haven’t been able to follow through with this challenge. I am really good about staying off my phone while I am working, but on the weekends when I am not with friends or being productive, I find it difficult not to scroll and mindlessly multitask.
I had a really simple day: Millie and I did our daily walk, I visited my parents, ordered groceries, took a nap, snuggled with Millie, watched a couple of movies…and scrolled on social media.
This addiction frustrates me because I am a Millennial and I remember what life was like before social media. I honestly thank God that social media wasn’t a thing when I was in high school, as it was tough enough without adding cyberbullying. I don’t even like social media that much. I think it makes us a less wise, lazier society, but it’s my go-to when I am exhausted and have nothing else to do.
I’m a nature girl at heart, and spending time outdoors is my favorite thing to do. It just didn’t happen today. Ideally, I would love to get outside for at least an hour, but when exhaustion kicks in, I prefer to relax and recharge.
I didn’t manage to follow through on her suggestion today, but I’ll make it happen tomorrow. I plan to lie out in my hammock and immerse myself in a good book, as long as the weather allows. I truly believe it’s essential to intentionally unplug from social media every day. It’s time to start a new habit!
