FINDING JOY

Day Trip to the Lake

For as long as I can remember, I have loved being in water. Maybe it’s because I grew up with a swimming pool. My brother and I spent so many summer days just playing in the pool that being in any kind of body of water feels natural and nostalgic.

So, when my friend invited me to go to a lake for the day this weekend, I was all in! The lake was about an hour and a half away, so it was a fun little road trip. The three of us jammed out and sang 90’s alternative the whole way there, but once we got there, I didn’t waste much time getting into the lake. The water was surprisingly warm and, of course, peaceful. I spent ninety-nine percent of my time at the beach in the water!

I love lakes so much that my ultimate dream is to live by a lake. Growing up, we had a pond where I liked to fish for smallmouth bass and bluegills. I find oceans to be exotic and beautiful, but there’s just something absolutely perfect to me about lakes.

It’s been a while since I spent a whole day outside, much less in the water, and with friends, no less. For that, I am truly thankful. Our day trip to the lake was truly a success.
